“This morning, in the fumes of his hot coffee, Mr. Rat poses a question.”
This is how the adventure begins.
Mr Rat wanted to know his surroundings better. One morning, with his neighbor Mr Lion, he decides to go and meet the other zoo animals. Together they ask each animal to draw their home so that Mr Rat can draw a map of the zoo. At the end of the story, the reader will have a pleasant surprise: the zoo and the animals are on a kid’s playmat. The vast world awaits beyond.
This book is as much about humor, poetry, fantasy and the cleverness to paint a beautiful metaphor of childhood. The text and drawings serve a tender narration that cuts through realism, the rat and the lion are the same size and chat as equals with the cat. The reader is just happy to get drawn into the final twist, and even if we are tricked, it’s better this way!
