Un bonhomme de neige pense à ce qu’il va faire en attendant le garçon qui l’a fabriqué : aller au cinéma, rencontrer le grand amour, passer une merveilleuse soirée… Et fondre ?
Dans le jardin d’une grande ville enneigée, un enfant fait un bonhomme de neige qu’il appelle Ulysse. Mais les choses commencent mal pour Ulysse : d’abord, la neige en ville, ça ne tient jamais. Et puis les enfants le délaissent bien vite. Alors, il s’évade en pensées. Rêve d’aller vivre la grande vie. De flâner en ville, d’aller chez le coiffeur et même de trouver l’amour qui fera fondre son cœur (mais pas que son cœur, hélas…).
Alexandra Pichard nous livre une fois de plus un album intelligent, beau et plein d’humour. Les enfants, habitués à inventer des histoires aux « bonhommes » divers qui les entourent, ne s’étonneront guère qu’un bonhomme de neige fonde d’amour… Ils naviguent avec aisance entre réalité et imaginaire, tout comme Alexandra Pichard !

In a snow-covered city garden, a child builds a snowman and names him Ulysse. But things don’t start off too well for our snowman: first, snow never lasts in town. Second, the child abandons him, leaving him all alone in this freezing town. So, he escapes in his thoughts, daydreaming about the high life. To be able to stroll into town, to discover the cafes, to go to the cinema, to the hairdresser’s, and even to find the love that will melt his heart (but, alas, not only his heart…)
Once again, Alexandra Pichard has produced a book that is smart, beautiful, and witty. There are a ton of picture books featuring snowmen. But none of them featured such a modern one, able to live such a romantic and swinging evening!
