Le Dabba d’en haut et le Dabba d’en bas sont frères. Ensemble, ils ont créé le monde, son ciel, ses montagnes et les bêtes qui l’habitent. Une nuit, ils créent ensemble une “drôle de bête” qui n’a ni crocs, ni écailles, ni griffes, ni plumes ! Mais à quoi donc servirait-elle ?
Avec Une drôle de bête, Martine Laffon, doctoresse en philosophie et passionnée de mythologie, raconte la naissance de l’homme. Comme pour l’album Elle tourne comme ça (paru en 2015 et illustré par Mayumi Otero), il s’agit d’une cosmogonie, cherchant par la fiction à expliquer l’existence des choses et du monde. Le tout est illustré avec malice par la géniale Delphine Durand.

The One from Up Here and The One from Down There are brothers.
They both created the world, its sky, mountains, and beasts. One night, they make a quite odd beast. It has no fangs, no scales, no claws and no feathers! So what would be the point of such a creature?
With An Odd Beast, Martine Laffon (doctor in philosophy and mythology enthusiast) writes about the birth of man. It is a cosmogony trying to explain the existence of things and of the world through fiction. By using the legend of Prometheus and Epimetheus, this humoristic and poetic tale gently initiates everyone on mythology.
